The Childhood Cancer Fund of the Optimist Club of the Beaches has been assisting families whose children have been afflicted with this disease since 2013. The Optimist Club of the Beaches under the leadership of Bernie Schmertman and his wife Ginny have been able to provide help to over 100 children.
The Optimist Club of the Beaches raises funds via donation boxes distributed throughout various businesses in the local area, holding events, auctions and raffles. Additionally, the Optimist Club of the Beaches Childhood Cancer Fund has had the good fortune of being supported by organizations like the 850 Car Club and the St. Joe Community Foundation.

850 Car Club supports Optimist Club of the Beaches Children’s Cancer Fund
The 850 Crew Car Club of Panama City Beach has provided support to the Optimist Club of the Beaches Children Cancer Fund for several years now. They have raised significant funding via the CAUSEway Car Show and other Car Shows that are held here in Panama City Beach.
Optimist Club of the Beaches teams up with Rally Foundation!
Working in collaboration with the Rally Foundation, the Optimist Club of the Beaches has been able to extend our reach to the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Pensacola. Plans going forward are to work with Rally in reaching out to both Children’s Cancer facilities located in Jacksonville and Gainesville.
